In this session, we will discuss definitions of gender identity, including distinguishing gender identity from sex assigned at birth and from sexual/romantic orientation.
Participants will become familiar with common terminology used to describe gender identity, as well as strategies for asking about and affirming people's gender identity including name, pronoun, gender expression, and provision of resources. The session will dive deeper into the social construct of gender, and activities will engage participants in exploring how and why we think of gender the way we do, and how we can expand our thinking to affirm and include people of all gender identities.
